Founded in 1981 by Charna Halpern, with assistance from the late Del Close starting in ‘84, the iO Theater has prospered as a comedy training center and performance venue. Located a few doors away from Wrigley Field, iO is renowned for the performing and teaching of long form improvisational theater (including the house specialty, the Harold). With two theaters, two full bars and shows every single night of the week, you don’t need to go anywhere else to be entertained.
Both the Cabaret and Del Close Theaters feature well-stocked bars boasting some of the finest beer and liquor selections of anywhere on Clark Street. Bar Manager Sherra Lasley and the iO staff are dedicated to bringing you a wide array of delicious spirits and a jaw-dropping selection of amazing craft beers, in addition to the typical docket of macro brews.
